- Frances Loubere made an eloquent statement about the City Clerk's failure to post the council minutes online for the June 11th meeting as well as the clerk's habit of neutralizing public comments. Ms. Loubere also reiterated a series of unanswered questions about Alderman Wogen's campaign and the April 17th election.
- City Clerk Donna Johnson made a pathetic appeal for local citizens to ask her questions about how she performs (?) her job (in response to public criticism in the Daily Chronicle and perhaps here on Wogen Watch too). We have a question for you Donna: When the hell are you going to retire and let someone with more credibility serve our community?
- Alderman Wogen didn't attend, and I didn't know if I should laugh or cry when I saw his empty seat. While his absence doesn't exactly help the Third Ward, maybe this is addition by subtraction. What do I mean? It is one less chance for him to make some kind of mistake that we all have to live with.

If Wogen is on vacation, he certainly cannot afford it! Perhaps he was home trying to calculate how much money he still owes his creditors.

Anonymous July 18th--If you have never watched any of the political humor shows like Jay Leno or David Letterman, you might try it. I interpreted Awesome Monday, 16th's comments as a failed attempt to engage in humor. Wogen is now a political figure, and as such, may be the butt of jokes, even if they are not so funny jokes.
If Wogen or family members are not prepared to put up with wise crackers trying to make jokes (even not so funny ones), then perhaps this was not the right job for him or his family. Getting upset about the media misquoting something was the first sign Wogen was not prepared for this job. Then screaming (which is what ALL CAPS means on a computer) at the people Wogen is supposed to represent is another sign that some people were not prepared for what comes with this job.
And two more things that will make you mad, you need to remember what Wogen said about one of his opponents not attending a function. You also need to remember what Wogen wrote about the incumbent in a the letter to the editor before the election listing everything that he failed to do. Do you think it is OK to criticize others but it is not OK to be on the receiving end? How is that not a double standard?
And, something you will not understand Anonymous, July 18th, is that most people who got mad about the postcards were not so much mad about the content as they were about him lying about them. He has no one but himself to blame for that. And, others have repeated this over and over--because Wogen took those postcards back to the Post Office, whether or not he created them did not matter anymore. By taking them back to the Post Office, then that means he took responsibility for getting them mailed out. If they were so horrible, then they never should have been mailed. He waited until there was a big media blitz and weeks before he apologized. He just thought everything was going to blow over and people would just "move on."
One more last thing--had Wogen resigned, I just bet this site would not exist. Perhaps the author or authors think there is still a chance that will happen, even if it has not happened yet.

If I were thriving for publicity, I wouldn't be posting on a weblog ... I'd be writing letters to the editor every day so that I could see my name in print in the paper.
Your blind devotion to Wogen is causing you no end of illogical conclusions and ridiculous assertions. Step away from your computer, take a deep breath, and focus on the issues:
1) Wogen lied to residents of the Third Ward
2) He issued a half-hearted apology on WLBK because of the intense pressure put on him by both those residents as well as the local media
3) He has financial issues in his past which, whether you like it or not, do two things:
a) Damage his credibility on issues pertaining to his being able to manage or vote on financial mattters for the city. (His vote to extend an unsolicited, $12,000 raise to a political consultant shows that he's not above spending for no good reason).
b) It calls into question his ability to resist bribery from persons or businesses who might be able to give him the financial assistance he needs to get out from under his problem. There's a reason Secret Service agents who protect the President are not allowed to have a certain amount of debt. Same should apply for your aldermen.
You can like the person, but don't confuse someone with a great personality as being a great human being. The two are not the same and, in fact, the guy who might give you the shirt off his back might also be the guy sleeping with your wife on the side.
I don't have to think of someone as a great person- (that has absolutely no bearing whatsoever) I am only presenting the facts to you.

However, you do not dispute any of the three points I made regarding Wogen.
Rather than trying to paint a picture of Slick Vic as comic book superhero, why not spend some time thinking about the real-life issues that he faces.
You do realize that if, suddenly, all of his financial troubles go away, everyone (even his supporters) are going to immediately wonder who paid him off under the table.
Even if no such thing happened, that perception will stain him for the remainder of his term in office.
And, let's be honest here. He's never going to be re-elected. My guess is, he's gonna ride the gravy train for all it's worth.
Just one more example of how Wogen is all about Wogen ... and not about the ward, or the city.
